It has been nearly two weeks since we debuted the NEO Spotlight Preseason Top 25 prior to the start of the season. The season tiped off with the Great Lakes Classic over at Maple Heights High School where the host school, Maple Heights and Cleveland Heights turned heads with impressive showings.

As a result, both Lake Erie League members made a significant jump on our poll, Cleveland Heights enters the top 5 while the Mustangs make their debut at number 20.

Check out the full list below, including results and descriptions for all 25 teams!

1. Massillon Jackson (1-0)
  • Preseason Ranking: #1
  • Last Week: Defeated Akron Firestone 73-39
  • This Week: 12/13 vs. GlenOak, 12/16 @ Massillon Perry
  • Outlook: The Polar Bears made their season debut on Saturday over at the K. Jack Greynolds Classic in a lopsided win over Akron Firestone, maintaining their number one ranking. Coach Debevec and company begin Federal League play on Tuesday before traveling to Disney for a tough, three-game stretch. 
2. St. Vincent-St. Mary (2-0)
  • Preseason Ranking: #2
  • Last Week: Defeated Youngstown Ursuline, 72-55.
  • This Week: 12/17 vs. Evanston, IL (LBJ Classic), 12/18 vs. #16 Warren Harding (LBJ Classic)
  • Outlook: Dealing with the aftermath of last week's game with Cleveland Central Catholic, Coach Dru Joyce and company managed to pickup a road win against Youngstown Ursuline on Friday. SeniorJayvon Graves has led the way offensively in the two wins, averaging over 26 points per contest.
3. St. Edward (3-0)
  • Preseason Ranking: #3
  • Last Week: Defeated Lakewood, 106-51. Defeated John Marshall, 94-43. Defeated #15 Cornerstone Christian, 88-73.
  • This Week: 12/17 vs. Glenville
  • Outlook: Coach Flannery and company are coming off of their first top 25 win over Cornerstone Christian. The Eagles face Glenville from out of the Senate League before partaking in a West Coast trip to San Diego. 
4. Lorain (2-0)
  • Preseason Ranking: #4
  • Last Week: Defeated Vermilion, 66-57. Defeated Elyria Catholic, 87-68.
  • This Week: 12/16 vs. Shaw, 12/18 vs. #10 North Canton Hoover (@ Canton CC)
  • Outlook: The Titans haven't played their best basketball out of the gate, but they were able to regroup and pick up two quality wins. Seniors Naz Bohanon and Jalil Little have led the push offensively while Octavius Wilson and Devon Grant have provided the group with some extra firepower.
5. Cleveland Heights (3-0)
  • Preseason Ranking: #8
  • Last Week: Defeated Richmond Heights, 71-38.
  • This Week: 12/16 vs. Bedford, 12/17 vs. Gahanna Lincoln (LBJ Classic), 12/18 vs. Mt. Mission (Hoops 4 Heart Classic)
  • Outlook: Cleveland Heights defeated two top 25 opponents opening weekend and followed it up with a one-sided win over Richmond Heights. The road ahead gets tougher for the Tigers as they three games in a matter of three days, including a matchup with Columbus powerhouse Gahanna Lincoln.
6. Garfield Heights (3-0)
  • Preseason Ranking: #9
  • Last Week: Defeated Bedford, 72-44. Defeated Orange, 66-57.
  • This Week: 12/13 @ Shaw, 12/18 vs. Westerville South (LBJ Classic)
  • Outlook: The Bulldogs took a blow when Cleveland State signee Shawn Christian suffered an apparent knee injury in the team's final preseason contest, but the Bulldogs have cruised to an early 3-0 start behind the leadership of Marreon Jackson. Looming on their radar is a meeting with Westerville South, a rematch of last year's state semifinals bout.
7. St. Ignatius (1-2)
  • Preseason Ranking: #7
  • Last Week: Lost vs. Archbishop Carroll (PA), 77-73. Defeated Erie McDowell, 81-58. 
  • This Week: 12/16 vs. Erie Strong Vincent (PA), 12/17 vs. Columbus Northland
  • Outlook: St. Ignatius traveled out of state to secure their first win of the season in a 81-58 routing of the host school. Matt Davet has impressed early and the senior was complemented over the weekend by the hot shooting of senior Michael Spear. 
8. Benedictine (1-0)
  • Preseason Ranking: #10
  • Last Week: Defeated #12 Cleveland Central Catholic, 64-43. 
  • This Week: 12/16 vs. #17 Hoban, 12/17 vs. Youngstown Ursuline (LBJ Classic)
  • Outlook: Due to the high school football playoffs pushing back their game with Ignatius, and a series of suspensions spoiling their matchup with CCC, Benedictine is still awaiting their first real test. 
9. Villa Angela-St. Joseph (2-1)
  • Preseason Ranking: #11
  • Last Week: Defeated #18 Lutheran East, 78-76 
  • This Week: 12/16 vs. #12 Cleveland Central Catholic
  • Outlook: Despite a strong effort from Lutheran East, VASJ was able to defeat the Falcons 78-76 without their point-guard and leader, Gene Higgins. The junior tweaked his ankle on 12/2 against Eulcid and it is uncertain when he will return to the lineup.
10. North Canton Hoover (2-0)
  • Preseason Ranking: #12
  • Last Week: Defeated Richmond Heights, 65-34. Defeated GlenOak, 66-49. 
  • This Week: 12/13 vs. #23 Uniontown Lake, 12/17 @ Carrolton, 12/18 vs. #4 Lorain (Hoops 4 Heart)
  • Outlook: Hoover opened up league play in a dominant fashion as a strong second half pushed them to a double-digit win over GlenOak. The team will faces an intriguing style clash as they look to upset Lorain this weekend.
11. Medina (3-0)
  • Preseason Ranking: #14
  • Last Week: Defeated Solon, 100-79. Defeated Wadsworth, 66-57.
  • This Week:  Friday, December 16th @ Strongsville
  • Outlook: The Bees get from Point A to Point B as quick as anyone in the area as they turn made buckets and long rebounds into transition opportunities on the other end. Coach Hassinger has handed over the keys to senior Ben Geschke to be the driving force behind the team's rapid fire offense, Luke Schaefer and Jackson Sartain have given their teammates a reliable outside presence.  
12. Cleveland Central Catholic (0-2)
  • Preseason Ranking: #6
  • Last Week: Lost vs. #8 Benedictine, 64-43.
  • This Week: 12/16 @ Villa Angela-St. Joseph
  • Outlook: Following the OHSAA's ruling on the incident in the 12/3 matchup with SVSM, the Ironmen will be without their entire varsity roster for the second consecutive game as they travel to VASJ.  
13. Mentor (0-0)
  • Preseason Ranking: #13
  • Last Week: Idle
  • This Week: 12/13 @ Brunswick, 12/16 vs. Euclid
  • Outlook: An unexpected snow flurry delayed Mentor's season debut against Brunswick, the two teams will play Tuesday.
14. Canton McKinley (4-0)
  • Preseason Ranking: #16
  • Last Week: Defeated New Philadelphia, 78-50. Defeated Massillon Perry, 85-55.
  • This Week: 12/16 @ Uniontown Green, 12/17 vs. Toledo St.  John (LBJ Classic)
  • Outlook: The backcourt duo of Darryl Straughter and Deontae McCollum have combined to form one of the top scoring backcourts in the area as the Bulldogs have won each of their four games by over 20 points.
15. Cornerstone Christian (2-2)
  • Preseason Ranking: #18
  • Last Week: Defeated Twinsburg, 56-52. Lost vs. #3 St. Edward, 88-73.
  • This Week: 12/16 vs. Lutheran East, 12/17 vs. Beachwood
  • Outlook: The defending state champs currently sit at .500 but have shown us that they can compete with the best. The Patriots took #5 Cleveland Heights to the wire at the inaugural Great Lakes Classic
16. Warren Harding (0-2)
  • Preseason Ranking: #5
  • Last Week: Lost vs. Poland Seminary, 51-50.
  • This Week: 12/13 @ Lakeside, 12/16 vs. Youngstown East, 12/18 vs. #2 St. Vincent-St. Mary (LBJ Classic)
  • Outlook: The Raiders have lost their first two games of the season by a combined 2 points. While the team was without Derek Culver and Lynn Bowden for their matchup versus Poland Seminary, this isn't the start that Harding was expecting. With three games this week, they will have the opportunity to overcome some early scrutiny.
17. Archbishop Hoban (1-1)
  • Preseason Ranking: #15
  • Last Week: Lost vs. St. Charles, 66-60. Defeated GlenOak, 46-42.
  • This Week: 12/13 @ Nordonia, 12/16 @ #8 Benedictine
  • Outlook: The Knights recovered from a tough loss against St. Charles with a tight win over GlenOak out of the Federal League. Not even two weeks removed from their second consecutive state championship in football, Hoban is still getting their basketball legs back.
18. Lutheran East (3-1)
  • Preseason Ranking: #20
  • Last Week: Defeated Whitney Young, 89-36. Lost vs. VASJ, 78-76.
  • This Week: 12/13 vs. Warrensville Heights, 12/16 @ #15 Cornerstone Christian, 12/18 vs. Youngstown Ursuline (Hoops 4 Heart)
  • Outlook: While VASJ may have spoiled Jordan Burge's Falcons debut, the team began the season 3-0, earning wins over Orange, Shaw, and Whitney Young. 
19. Brecksville (2-0)
  • Preseason Ranking: #17
  • Last Week: Defeated Cuyahoga Falls, 39-32. 
  • This Week: 12/13 @ Strongsville, 12/16 vs. Twinsburg
  • Outlook: Coach Mehalik and the Bees are 2-0 to start the season, but are looking to clean up their play and get some more scoring on the board as league plays sets to tip off. 
20. Maple Heights (3-0)
  • Preseason Ranking: NR
  • Last Week: Defeated Orange, 83-66. Defeated New Day Academy, 81-51.
  • This Week: 12/16 vs. Warrensville Heights, 12/17 vs. Hudson
  • Outlook: The Mustangs love to run. Behind their high-powered offense and scrappy defensive effort, Maple Heights has proven that they are here to stay. Senior Tyree Harris is up for player of the week honors after back-to-back 28-point performances against Orange and New Day Academy.
21. Holy Name (2-0)
  • Preseason Ranking: #23
  • Last Week: Defeated Bay, 90-81. Defeated Elyria Catholic, 72-61.
  • This Week: 12/13 vs. Padua, 12/16 @ Rocky River
  • Outlook: On a night where Holy Name locked up a 72-61 win over Elyria Catholic, junior Dwayne Cohill received his 1,000 point basketball prior to tip-off. Cohill and the Green Wave have scored their fair share of points early on as seniors Malique Burton and Nick Opincar have stepped up to the plate.
22. Akron Ellet (3-0)
  • Preseason Ranking: NR
  • Last Week: Defeated Akron Buchtel, 78-66. Defeated Tallmadge, 74-40.
  • This Week: 12/13 @ Akron Garfield, 12/16 vs. Akron Kenmore
  • Outlook: Ellet has cruised through the opening week and a half of the season, knocking off rival Akron Buchtel. Seniors Marquis Bridges and Jaret Jones have helped carry the load as A.J. Gareri gets back into a groove coming off of an ankle injury.
23. Uniontown Lake (2-1)
  • Preseason Ranking: #19
  • Last Week: Defeated Uniontown Green, 51-33. Defeated New Philadelphia, 48-39.
  • This Week: 12/13 @ #10 North Canton Hoover, 12/16 vs. GlenOak
  • Outlook: Lake picked up two quality wins  this weekend after losing a tight one to Youngstown Ursuline in their opener. On Tuesday, the Blue Streaks square off against Federal League rival North Canton Hoover in a top 25 matchup. 
24. Elyria (3-0)
  • Preseason Ranking: NR
  • Last Week: Defeated Euclid, 85-50.
  • This Week: 12/16 vs. Brunswick
  • Outlook: Coach Brett Larrick has relied on his group's experience thus far as the team is rolling early on. The Pioneers will face their first test of the season as they matchup with a young Brunswick group who happens to be coming off of a pair of big wins.
25. Shaker Heights (1-1)
  • Preseason Ranking: #21
  • Last Week: Lost vs. Strongsville, 76-71. Defeated Toledo Woodward, 83-71.
  • This Week: 12/16 @ Solon
  • Outlook: After a disappointing overtime loss to Strongsville, Shaker Heights bounced back on Saturday with a 12-point win over Woodward out of Toledo, Dale Bonner and J'Van Beasley led the way for the Red Raiders.
