Cohill recaps his visit to VA Tech on Sunday and talks about the grind of the season.

2018 combo-guard Dwayne Cohill received his 15th scholarship after his unofficial visit to Coach Buzz Williams and the Hokies.

Sunday's trip to Blacksburg came after a tough, physical game on the road against Cleveland Central Catholic. While Sundays are a day to ice the legs and catch up on the books, Cohill had to sacrifice some much-needed rest.

"It's a grind. And if you're not ready to grind every day, you won't make it."

Cohill, one of the area's top scorers, saw a variety of defenders as he scratched and clawed his way to a near triple double with 12 points, 10 rebounds, and 7 assists.

"I have to know that it's going to come in a variety of ways, so I just have to mentally prepare myself and understand that I can't let it affect the way I play and how I compete night in and night out."

The ability to brush off a rough scoring night and notch a game-high in rebounds and assists is something that may not have happened a year ago. The 6'1 junior has matured not only in his approach to each game, but his improved decision making has seen his stock rise.

That's exactly what Coach Williams and staff look for in their floor generals.

"He puts a lot of trust in his lead guards and he wants them to be an extension of him on the court. I think I fit perfectly in his system."

Virginia Tech has recent ties in Ohio with the commitment St. Vincent-St. Mary guard Jalen Hudson, currently at Florida after playing two seasons with the Hokies, and Justin Bibbs who played for the same AAU club as Cohill, Ohio Basketball Club.

"I've heard great things about the school and I wanted to see it for myself," Cohill mentioned in regards to the campus.

With a number of other recruits in attendance, Virginia Tech picked up a double-overtime win over conference rival Virginia and Cohill walked away impressed by the "unbelievable" fanbase.

"That place was rocking for the full 50 minutes of the game. They also have a great coaching staff and they are all about the players."

The top guard in Ohio's 2018 class is still soaking everything in and will make a trip to Butler on February 19th.
