Senior Jaret Jones hit a three midway through the fourth quarter to bring Ellet within ten points, but an untimely offensive rebound and putback layup by Jayvon Graves put an end to the Orangemen's late run.

Graves finished with a game-high 22 points and 6 rebounds to lead the Irish to a 74-54 victory over the home team.

Ellet opened up Thursday night's game in a 2-3 zone and on the game's first possession, Jon Williams finds his running mate Graves for a backdoor lob. Senior Justin Sampson, an Akron football commit, was a load in the paint for the Irish, grabbing three offensive rebounds in the game's opening minutes.

That was the story all night for Ellet as they saw the visitors get second and third chance opportunities in the halfcourt while they settled for one shot possessions on the other end.

Williams and Graves connected on  a flurry of deep jumpers to put St. Vincent-St. Mary up 18 at the half.

Ellet had three starters pick up two fouls in the game's first 16 minutes and to make matters even worse, A.J. Gareri suffered  a right ankle injury in the third quarter just two minutes after point guard Marquis Bridges picked up his fourth foul.

Gareri, an Ohio University signee, missed some significant time this summer and preseason as the result of an ankle/foot injury. He finished with 12 points and 6 rebounds.

Jones and fellow senior Joe Lewis would make some shots late to give the Orangemen a puncher's chance, but in the end it would be too many missed boxouts and turnovers down the stretch.

Ellet (9-3) have dropped two of their last three games, both at home, and the team travels to Columbus on Saturday to play Whitehall-Yearling. The team will likely play without Gareri.

The Fighting Irish (8-4) will also  be shorthanded this weekend when they travel to ply Shaker Heights without Sampson, Malik Woolridge, and DeAmonte King, all three will be on football visits.
