"Hit that Mike!", senior Brandon McQueen yelled to Mike Bothwell right before he passed the ball to his backcourt runningmate.

As he has done time and time again, Bothwell came through and connected on a deep three as the time expired in the sixth and final quarter of action as Cornerstone Christian Academy defeated St. Ignatius 92-91 on Monday night.

In a game that turned out to be a 60 minute tug of war match in which neither team was able to muster enough strength to completely pull away, the full-court pressure applied by CCA in the contest's opening period made it difficult for Ignatius to get their offense grooving, the Wildcats would also be forced to play without senior forward Matt Davet (concussion).

In an ironic role reversal, it was Bothwell who connected with McQueen on a pair of triples to get the Patriots out to a hot 12-4 start.

Coach Becker and his Wildcats squad would go on to bounce back as the Ignatius backcourt, led by Devin Jackson, was able to overcome the pressure and facilitate effortlessly in the halfcourt setting, securing a 23-17 win in the second 10 minutes of action.

The two squads proceeded to take turns winning the next few quarters of play, and after what was a relatively slow start, St. Ignatius senior Austen Yarian came alive down the stretch. CCA had no match for the versatility and size of the 6'8 forward as Yarian would go on to finish play after play at the rim.

Yarian finished the night with 26 points to go along with 9 boards.

Both teams entered the final quarter of the night tied at 65 points apiece, and it would be McQueen who took control for the Patriots. Despite trailing 11-2 with under 7 minutes to go, McQueen would go on to score 8 of his 25 points in the last few minutes. A late turnover by Ignaitus on an errant backdoor pass led to Bothwell's dagger, the junior finished with a game-high 27 points.
