Check out who showed up and showed out at the University of Akron this weekend!

Friday June 17th

Josh Lotko

Jeremiah Francis (Pickerington Central) 2019

The  best performance Friday afternoon came from Columbus-native Jeremiah Francis. In a matchup against Brush, Francis played at a pace that was unmatched. The 6'1 guard appears to have toned up his body since the end of the 15-16 season, and he used his improved frame to shield defenders and convert effortlessly at the rack.  It is no wonder why Francis is considered by many to be the state's top point-guard in the class of 2019.

Andre Harris (Brush) 2019

Andre Harris is just one of many pieces that Coach Chet Mason has at his disposal. In what turned out to be the breakout performance of the day, Harris was effective on both ends of the floor as his defense and length resulted in a series of transition buckets. With high school summer leagues and team camps coming to an end, Harris is a prospect worth monitoring throughout July.

Josh Lotko (Elyria) 2017

Perhaps the best shooter in attendance on Friday, Elyria rising senior Josh Lotko was unconscious behind the arc in his first two games of the day. Lotko is a hybrid forward who  is beginning to look more comfortable taking defenders off the bounce. Coach Brett Larrick accredits Lotko as the hardest working player in his program, and it's pretty apparent that the extra reps are beginning to pay off in a major way.

Saturday June 18th (Morning Session)

Kavon Gainer

Andrew Carbon (Struthers) 2017

On Saturday morning, we had the chance to get our first look at Andrew Carbon out of Struthers, Ohio, and it didn't take very long to see that Carbon had a feel for the game. The 6'1  combo-guard has a yo-yo like handle paired with a lightning quick release. Carbon tallied 40 points in the two games that we saw him play, one in which he unintentionally found himself in a impromptu one-on-one game.

Kavon Gainer (Cuyahoga Falls) 2017

One of the highlights of the day happened on Court 1 when Cuyahoga Falls squared off against Andrew Carbon and the Struthers Wildcats. After a quiet start, Kavon Gainer began to heat up and exchange one difficult shot for another with Carbon. Gainer went on to connect on five of his three-point attempts. While Carbon may have outscored him 22 to 21 on the stat sheet, it was Cuyahoga Falls who walked away with a 46-42 victory.

Yahel Hill (Cleveland Heights) 6'0

Usually known for his pace and ability to run the show for Coach Jeremy Holmes and the Cleveland Heights Tigers, Yahel Hill showed he is a much better athlete than what he is given credit for. In what would have most certainly been the highlight of the day if he had completed it, Hill climbed the back of an opposing player in an effort to throw down a tip dunk. Yahel is a crafty finisher and he used his unique ability to change speeds to get into the paint. Hill will have no choice but to be this aggressive on a consistent basis throughout the season for Heights to reach their peak.

Chris Jefferson

Chris Jefferson (Benedictine) 2018

With the graduation of Justin Layne, a Michigan State football commit, there will be plenty of opportunity in the 16-17 season for the young Bengal backcourt and 6'0 Chris Jefferson stepped up to the plate on Saturday. After hitting  a go-ahead bucket late in a game against Cleveland Heights, Jefferson went on to terrorize opposing guards with his active defensive play and ability to penetrate the lane on the other end.

Armon Nasseri (Youngstown Ursuline) 2017

The first game of the morning saw Youngstown Ursuline, who would be playing without point-guard Michael Hughes, against a Cleveland Heights squad who has no shortage of guards in their rotation. With Tyreke Smith and Jaylen Harris missing in action due to football, 6'6 forward Armon Nasseri took full advantage of the Tigers' lack of size in the paint. Nasseri displayed patience out of the low post as he set up his counter-moves, and when the double came, he quickly spat the ball out to the open man.

Saturday June 18th (Afternoon Session)

Jayvon Graves

Jayvon Graves (St. Vincent St. Mary) 2017

It is fair to argue that no player in Northeast Ohio last season had a better second half of the year than junior Jayvon Graves. After scoring a career-high 40-points against Cleveland Central Catholic, Graves never looked back. On Saturday, the 6'2 athlete gave us every sign that this was no fluke. Graves showed an improved ability to create for himself off the dribble and consistently be a deep threat.

Jeremiah Keene (Westerville North) 2019

On Friday, it was Jeremiah Francis who showed up and showed out, but on Saturday it was 6'1 Jeremiah Keene from Westerville who made a splash in Akron, Ohio. After taking an official visit to The Ohio State University, Keene showed why the Buckeye staff is showing interest as he scored the ball at a high rate.
